Case Study
Snap Rentals
Snap Rentals came to us with a training video in mind: a straightforward right-way, wrong-way piece showing branch teams how to handle common counter situations. It’s the kind of video that tends to get made once and never watched twice.
We proposed a different approach. Instead of an instructional video, we wrote a series of connected comedy skits that play the same scenarios out as story, putting the friction points and the ideal customer experience side by side in a way that felt relatable and self-aware rather than a telling-off. The script was developed from our discovery session with the Snap team and refined with their leadership, so every scene traced back to something that genuinely happens at the counter.
Then we made it properly. We filmed across three locations in New Zealand in a single production run, casting Snap’s own staff rather than actors, so the people delivering the lessons are the same people who live them. Every scene was blocked and shot to work as its own standalone piece as well as part of the wider series, which gives Snap a library they can drip out to teams over time rather than one long video nobody finishes. The learning still lands. It just doesn’t feel like training.
“We had a great experience working with Vlad, Kaushik and the team at Dark Matter. They helped us take our internal communications strategy and turn it into video content that was engaging, easy to understand, and something we could actually use to teach and connect with our staff.
They made the whole process incredibly easy. They came up with great ideas on how to bring the content to life, understood what we were trying to achieve, and made the filming process fast, smooth and really well organised.
We’re really happy with how everything turned out and would happily recommend Dark Matter to anyone looking to bring their ideas or internal communications to life through video” Ignacio Devoto – Marketing and Partnerships Manager, Snap Rentals
