University of Canterbury – Case Study
In an era of digital engagement and constant learning, University of Canterbury engaged Dark Matter to direct the production of their Natural Language Processing Course hosted on Harvard's Edx platform.
The Problem
The problem we faced in the studio was that we Just didnt know anything about presenting in front of a camera. This was a skill that we never needed before. There wasn’t much training before – we had one session before but that was very general.Â
What The Lecturers Said
The tips and guidance provided by Dark Matter helped us throughout the 12 recording sessions. As a result, we are now more confident about making a MOOC and presenting on camera.
How Dark Matter Helped
Dark Matter was extensively involved in the production of the Text Analytics with Python MOOC (Massively Open Online Course) for the Edx platform.
Our work with the team began right at the beginning which involved creating a structure for the video scripts, exploring utilisation of props, on camera presentation with Michael Philpott and direction by Kaushik Kumar
The production of the two MOOCs took just twelve weeks, with an initial two weeks for the pre-production script development and training. The MOOC can be found here:
